9/11 – Remembrance of fallen first responders lives on

9/11 flag

On this anniversary of 9/11, more than a decade removed from that fateful day in New York, Pennsylvania, at the Pentagon and around the country, many people will take time out of their day to remember those lost.

Hundreds of first responders – police and law enforcement, firefighters and emergency medical personnel – perished as well and many died from medical issues in the months and years following.

Remembering those lost

Moments of silence will be held in locations around the country. Speeches will be given. The event will be talked about on television, on line and in classrooms. Private and personal remembrances will take place.

Police and fire departments will also be holding small ceremonies. From Marblehead, Ohio to Atlanta, Georgia to cities and towns in New Mexico and around the country, police and other first responders will be marking the day with special honors.
